Women & Work Phase 2
What is Women & Work?
The Women & Work programme is a government-funded scheme aimed at women employed in the fashion and textiles sector. The aim of the programme is to give women new skills, so they can progress in their career and achieve more for themselves and their employers.
Who can take part?
This programme is open to women who design or manufacture clothing, footwear or textiles, and women working in the laundry and dry-cleaning or shoe repair sectors in England. Employees who take part in Women & Work must belong to a registered company employing less than 5,000 people.
The Women & Work programme has been designed to help women employees in the following ways:
· Operational skills: give operative-level employees new skills, so they can take on a wider range of tasks, or greater responsibilities
· Supervisory skills: give your competent operators the confidence and skills they need to become in-house trainers or supervisors
· Technical skills: break down barriers in technical ability so that women employees can advance their career
· Management and leadership skills: develop the top-level leadership potential of your senior staff
What support is available?
If you have women in your business who could take on new roles and responsibilities with a little support, then Women & Work provides you with a training grant of up to 75% of the cost of training – up to a maximum of £500 per employee.
